Tegucigalpa, Aug 31.- The National Front against the Coup d' Etat in Honduras announced it would strengthen the resistance structures, even in the farthest corners of the country, to restore democracy.
Israel Salinas, general secretary of the Unitary Federation of Honduran Workers, stated that an assembly with representatives from all over the nation will be held on September 6 in this capital, with that purpose.
Salinas said intensifying the Front's struggle in regions, departments, municipalities and communities, to restore constitutional order and reinstate President Manuel Zelaya, is among the meeting's objectives.
The union leader highlighted the peaceful, democratic, patriotic and solidarity nature of the Front, a vast alliance comprised of union, rural, student, women, and human rights groups, among others.
Firmness of the peaceful struggle will defeat the desperate putschists, who are faced with the increasing world condemnation and the resistance that has reached on Monday its 65th consecutive day of permanent opposition to the June 28 military coup, Salinas stressed.
Juan Barahona, general coordinator of the Front, stated on Monday that members of the resistance would meet again in front of the National Pedagogical University to announce the actions planned for today.
